so, it's over for mccain ...

1) it's too late for negative attacks - prolly won't work now since obama can just counter with something like, "We've got the biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression, and they're bringing up garbage about things that happened when I was 8 years?"

2) the only thing less popular than bush is congress ... but mccain can't effectively run against congress since he's been a part of it for decades.  only palin can, but she'd have to blast her boss as well.

3) if mccain does the "i failed the american people, we failed the american people, but i'm going to washington to fix it" routine, obama will dance around with glee and say, "Hey, I've barely been in the Senate."

4) the media's picked its candidate and will defend him as much as possible in the last month. just write two types of stories - a) essentially create an "objective" and "balanced' article by inserting obama's talking points to blunt any negative stories and attacks on obama, b) churn out "hard-hitting" stories "to get to the truth" on mccain / palin.  factcheck whitewash.  propaganda is too obviously one-sided.  it works better if you try to be 50-50 to gain trust, but then are more surgically precise about where you lie or omit facts.  people are not in the mood to vote republican, and it's easy for the media to feed us what we want.

oh well, if the economy totally tanks while obama is prez, u'd figure he's gonna push some kind of fdr, New Deal II solution and turn us into europe.  maybe that's what he wants.

personally, i'd prolly benefit more from obama winning, but whateva.

oh yeah, saw the clip of o'reilly and frank yelling at each other.  lots of insightful, informational content can be gleaned from that segment - just like the pie fights in the three stooges.

real news with real people?

these aren't real people. these are caricatures.

so what you are watching isn't real news, it's a caricature of news.  a parody of news and journalism.  personas / cultivated images pretending to be doing the news, when it's really just infotainment and narratives. narrative. narrative. narrative.

if i hear that word one more time ...

doing a parody of the news is easy.  you get a screech monkey from the left and a screech monkey from the right, and have them throw verbal poop on each other.

this is journalistic excellence in the making.

courage.

when watching the news these days, i go for information, entertainment value and cleavage.  ok, i lied.  it's just cleavage.  i think they really need to work on finding the best camera angle from the side.  and maybe have more leaning forward action.

uh ... hmm, what was i talking about again?  got distracted and lost my train of thought. oh well. probably just the usual blah blah blah.

not rly interested in convincing someone about something or other. most of what is going on in my brain is wrong anyway.  mental flotsam and jetsam.

haven't really bothered to think very deeply about this stuff or to apply more structured principles to analyze specifics, so it's mostly superficial, knee-jerk reaction.  sorta busy with other stuff.

just moving from point a to point b going blah blah blah.  ah well, bye.
